In 1998, Dr. Sabir Bux, the visionary founder of the Odisha Yachting Association, embarked on a transformative journey in the UAE, where he learned the art of windsurfing. This experience ignited a profound passion and a dream within him to bring this exhilarating sport to his homeland of Odisha.

Upon returning to India, Dr. Bux was determined to make his vision a reality. He took his first steps towards this goal by introducing windsurfing on the river Mahanadi in Cuttack and later at Bindusagar in Bhubaneswar. His efforts laid the foundation for the growth of windsurfing in Odisha, inspiring many and paving the way for the establishment of the Odisha Yachting Association.
